Midsummer Joy and Fields of Blooms

May and early June always throw us into a beautiful, wild dance here on the farm! It's that wonderful, chaotic mix of planting, sowing, picking, arranging, and even sheep shearing that makes our world bloom. Yes, it’s madness, but it’s the most rewarding kind of madness, and we wouldn't want it any other way. The recent rain has been an absolute blessing, giving us a much-needed break from endless watering.
All our precious seedlings are now tucked safely into the ground, and our perennials are well-supported, reaching for the sun.

You Are Our People!
If your house currently resembles a beautiful disaster zone – piles of laundry, a kitchen full of "creative clutter," and a to-do list a mile long – but you still find time every day to lovingly tend your seedlings, weeding around them, watering them, and willing them to grow... then you are my people! All of us flowery folk know that at this time of year, everything else can absolutely wait. Getting our beloved plants out and established simply cannot!
So, don't worry about the housework. You're about to spend the next several weeks out in your garden, admiring all that glorious new growth (and perhaps embarking on a late-night slug hunt with a torch – we're all in it together!).
There is truly nothing more satisfying than seeing our flower field neatly cared for, seedlings thriving, and gathering the very first blooms for all the amazing weddings and events we've been a part of recently.
Spreading Joy, One Bouquet at a Time
Our hearts were warmed by a recent visit from the children of Ysgol Bryn Clwyd. As part of their "The Scented Garden" topic, they first visited our flower field to see what running a flower farm is truly like. Then, we headed to their school for a sustainable flower arranging workshop. These pupils were incredibly creative, working wonderfully in teams.
As part of their project, they had nominated noteworthy people in their school and village who deserved a special bouquet. After the workshop, the entire class walked around delivering flowers to these local heroes! So much joy can be spread with a simple bunch of flowers, wrapped up with love. What an amazing school!

This giant bouquet gifted by an amazing local mum to her gorgeous 16-year-old daughter. It makes us so incredibly happy to know we can bring joy to people on their special days!

Summer Adventures & Blooming Workshops!
We've been buzzing with excitement organising a very special workshop at Nantclwyd y Dre on August 12th, one of the oldest and most stunning timber-framed historical buildings in our town, with its award-winning gardens. We're planning an elegant tea party where guests can enjoy delicious food prepared by The Sorbus Tree while creating beautiful flower arrangements.
This family-friendly workshop will involve making hand-tied bouquets, with little jam jars available for younger ones. We especially hope to see grandparents join us for a truly special day with their grandchildren (ages 10+). Imagine making beautiful memories together, then exploring the fantastic house and gardens, and playing games on the lawn! We'll be releasing tickets for this event soon, so make sure to follow our socials @firthflockflowers to be the first to know when tickets drop!

Community Connections
The closing date for the North Wales Housing Garden Competition is fast approaching on July 11th! We're so excited to judge the entries and meet more green-fingered creatives around North Wales. If you're a tenant of North Wales Housing, you can find details on how to enter and the categories below.
Big News this weekend: Gŵyl Rhuthin Festival & Flower Crowns!
Firth Flock Flowers will be at Gŵyl Rhuthun Festival on 5th July! You'll find our stall on the square selling our beautiful flower crowns. It's our absolute dream to see a sea of festival-goers dancing around with flowers in their hair! To help us achieve this, we're taking pre-orders that can be collected from our stall as soon as you arrive. We'll also have plenty for sale on the day, but pre-ordering helps us make sure everyone gets their perfect crown!
Adult crowns are £10 and children's are £8. You can even pick a colour scheme when you order, and we'll do our best to match your outfit with what we have available. These are dried flower crowns, so they'll be re-wearable if kept dry and out of direct light. Check out George from Bathing Beauty modelling our creations below – she told us she still wears the crown she bought from us last year regularly!

Upcoming Blooms & Beyond!
For the second year we will be providing the flowers for the Llangollen International Eisteddfod! We'll be organising a relay of blooms from local farms across North Wales to the phenomenal volunteers who tirelessly fundraise for and arrange their iconic stage. We truly take our hats off to them and wish them another hugely successful year!
Keep an eye out for us next weekend at Betws Artisan Market (a huge thanks to Bethan, one of my amazing team, who will be running this stall while I am at Ruthin Festival!). We also have a wedding that weekend and, of course, delivering Eisteddfod flowers – events truly come like buses sometimes!
We're currently organising some very exciting workshops at some exclusive local venues, so stay tuned for those announcements and check our Events Page. We'll also be hosting another workshop at The Source with the lovely George. Our "Grow Your Own Cut Flower Garden" course was so popular that we're adding an extra day for Autumn Sowing.
On July 19th, we're thrilled to be attending Prestatyn Carnival for the first time! They're keen to move towards being a completely plastic-free event, and as a sustainable business, we're eager to support them. Come along and build a bunch with us!
Join us at The Source for a hands-on workshop dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cut flower garden using hardy annuals. This session focuses on autumn planting, allowing you to enjoy an early burst of colour next spring! Learn practical skills, get expert guidance, and connect with fellow flower enthusiasts. You'll receive a pre-workshop sweet pea kit, a comprehensive guidebook, and access to our WhatsApp support group for ongoing advice. As an added extra we will be providing you with seeds for beautiful annuals like Cornflowers, Agrostemma, Larkspur, and more! - Buy Tickets

Your July Garden Checklist!
As we head into July, here's how to keep your flowers blooming beautifully all summer:
Deadhead, Deadhead, Deadhead! Snip off spent blooms to encourage more flowers.
Water Deeply & Consistently: Especially for thirsty pots and new plants.
Feed Regularly: A liquid feed every few weeks fuels continuous blooms.
Watch for Pests: Catching them early keeps your plants healthy.
Support Taller Blooms: Give stakes or netting to plants that need a little extra help standing tall.
Succession Sow: Plant a few more quick-growing annuals for blooms later in the season. And now is the perfect time to sow your bi-annuals.Add your text here. Edit to add dynamic values like name, email and more.
Flower of the Month
Achillea which is known colloquially as Yarrow. Yarrow was used by soldiers in ancient times for its wound healing properties.

That's it for now!
You'll see lots more blooming madness as the summer progresses. We sometimes have a tough time keeping track of it all, but we absolutely love having you all along for the ride.
Thank you for your support, as always!
Love,
Firth Flock Flowers
