Daffodils, Easter Eggs & Flower Beds

Updated: May 6

Dymunwn Ddydd Gŵyl Dewi hapus i chi!

We kicked off March with St David’s Day on the 1st, and in our little Welsh town (where 43% of the population speak Welsh), it’s hard to miss the celebration. Daffodils are everywhere, and they always bring a burst of joy.

Did you know the botanical name for the daffodil is Narcissus, named after the Greek myth of the beautiful Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection? Well, these stunning flowers are also a reminder that spring is here—new beginnings, hope, and of course, lots of daffodils.

There are over 25,000 varieties of daffodils around the world, which means you can find them in nearly every shape and colour imaginable. We’ve been incorporating them into our spring wreaths, with miniature narcissus still attached to their bulbs. These living wreaths are designed to last longer, and once you're done displaying them, you can plant the bulbs in your garden to enjoy for years to come.

Mother’s Day Madness

What a wild ride the lead-up to Mother’s Day was! Our wholesaler had a bit of a hiccup, and the weather didn’t help. With fewer flowers than expected arriving, we were almost in a panic. But, we got creative and encouraged people to consider workshop tickets as gifts, which turned out to be a lovely success!

When the flowers did finally arrive, we were ready to get crafting, and we sold out of bouquets the day before Mother’s Day—phew! Between making arrangements and lambing (yes, we had the last few lambs make their grand entrance), it was exhausting, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Our Mother’s Day Workshop at Llanbenwch on the 28th March was fantastic! The gorgeous new cafe space at Llanbenwch gave us the perfect backdrop for a flower-filled, cake-fueled workshop. Every participant left with a beautiful vase of flowers, plus a homemade cake and a drink (thanks to the wonderful Llanbenwch team).
