The nights are drawing in and we are focusing our attention on dried flowers, wreaths and Christmas markets. Llanbenwch is a local caravan park and farm shop and they recently launched their brand new cafe which has been jam packed with customers since they opened. Just minutes away from the farm, we have been selling fresh bouquets here for a couple of years, but this is the first time we have been able to sell dried flower bouquets. They absolutely flew out!

We attended their annual Christmas Fair and with the new facilities attracting people from all over, it was a lovely day.
Ruthin also hosted its annual Christmas Extravaganza which attracts thousands of visitors every year. We were situated in Nantclwyd y Dre this year and sold a variety of dried flower and foliage wreaths, dried flower bunches and an extra special product we absolutely love. We went back to Anvil Pottery and purchased a selection of hand thrown terracotta pots which we filled with delicate flower bulbs. These were so pretty and a perfect small gift.

I headed back down to the Royal Welsh Showgrounds for the Winter Fair to do some flower demonstrations. This time I also took our sheep. We have a flock of native Black Welsh Mountain Sheep, my absolute pride and joy. We spend a lot of time showing them, and the Winter Fair has always been a big goal for me personally. Not an easy task to take flowers and sheep to such a big show, so even getting there in one piece would have been enough of an achievement. However, Ginny and Gwen (twin sisters) made our wildest dreams come true coming 2nd place in a big class, making us all incredibly proud.

Another return visit was to Cafe at The Source, an ancient barn which also houses a small eco store and pop up cafe which is home to the multi award winning Bathing Beauty products. This collaboration was quite magical. We created a relaxing evening at the barn, learning about and creating foliage and dried flower garlands, which were then scented using a bespoke room spray our guests created using Bathing Beauty essential oils. A delicious meal was served using only the best and freshest locally sourced ingredients and a warm mug of mulled apple juice or freshly ground coffee. We love creating memorable workshops that people will never forget!

If you listen to podcasts then have a look for ‘The Career Podcast’ with Lynsey Hysop. I was very honoured to be asked on as a guest talking about my experiences as a flower farmer. I often do talks about my experiences starting a business at such a young age. The episode is called #24 Flower farmer and pedigree duck breeder
