Spring Has Sprung

It is officially Spring! The first spring on our new 1/4 acre flower field and there is so much to do. We are enjoying seeing our little bulbs and seedlings springing to life and having more home grown blooms to choose from

So much has happened this month including the first wedding of the year, and a trip to Blackpool to attend the National Federation of Small Businesses award ceremony. I was a runner up for the category of Young Entrepreneur of the Year after winning the category for Wales earlier in the year.

The highlight of the month for me would have to be driving into the Royal Welsh Show ground the day before the Spring Festival to set up the stall. I was asked to run a stall representing my own business as well as ‘Flowers from the Farm’ a sustainable flower farming collective I am part of. It was a proper ‘pinch me’ moment to be part of a festival I have been attending for years as a punter.

Bethan came along to help me with the two day stall. I created a selfie frame out of flowers which went down so well with festival goers. We had such a fun and exhausting couple of days, I loved every minute of it.

Earlier this year we received some funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund which meant we were able to purchase some equipment for weddings and events. We commissioned our local potter Alan at Anvil Pottery to create a variety of vases and vessels to display our blooms. This month we were able to pick them up and take them out to our first wedding fair! We have a set in their signature blue and a more neutral oatmeal glaze which would work with any colour scheme. We LOVE them and can’t wait to use them for weddings.

We are at Yr Hen Lys (The Old Courthouse) and Pentre Mawr wedding fairs this month. We’ve never really done wedding fairs, but we have decided to give a few a go this year. I am also sporting my new branded Firth Flock Flowers uniform, purchased from a local workwear company. I am feeling very smart and put together this month

If you follow us on social media you will have seen Ryan Gosling wandering around the farm helping me with the flower orders…. Ryan was kicked out of his gaggle by the other geese, but we adopted him as our new member of the Firth Flock team until he is a bit older and can go to his new home… despite all the activity this month, Ryan remains the star of the show!

Don’t miss our hand tied bouquet workshop at Llanelidan Village Hall as well as making flower crowns at Ruthin Festival, follow the Facebook page for more information
