As the flower field explodes into life, May always feels like a pivotal month – a dance between nurturing our blooms and nurturing our own well-being. Even when life feels overwhelmingly busy, the magic of connecting with the soil has a unique way of recalibrating everything. We started off our month celebrating this essential connection with the earth at our grow your own cut flower garden workshop, and ended it at one of the most prestigious walled gardens in the area - The Laundry Open Garden bank holiday event was wonderful!… dive into our May roundup

Blooming Connections: Our Cut Flower Garden Workshop
Our first "Grow Your Own Cut Flower Garden" workshop was an absolute dream! We shared our passion and practical skills with such a wonderful group of enthusiastic ladies, which was incredibly rewarding, nourishing a truly supportive and inspiring environment. A huge thank you to George at The Source for her warm hospitality and delicious food – workshops that combine flowers and food are always the best!
The feedback has been so positive that we're now exploring new venues across North Wales and we're excited to announce an extra session, "Grow Your Own Cut Flower Garden: Autumn Planting," perfect for getting those hardy annuals in for early spring blooms.

Wedding Wonders & Timeless Beauty
Weddings have been a big part of May. I’ve had the joy of creating some beautiful arrangements with diverse themes and we even sourced antique milk churns for one wedding. They turned out so beautifully we think they'll become a favourite for future events. Being a seasonal florist means we get to play with an incredible variety of blooms, ensuring every arrangement is unique and truly special, crafted with whatever is in its peak beauty.
A Blooming Success at The Laundry Open Garden
To cap off a busy month, we spent the Bank Holiday weekend at the absolutely stunning Laundry Open Garden event. It's such a beloved garden, and it was a privilege to be a stall holder. All the planning really paid off, leaving us plenty of time to chat with customers and share insights on sustainable flowers.
A huge shout-out to my fantastic team, Jenny, Jenni and Bethan. Their confidence and friendliness were invaluable, helping me step out of my comfort zone and engage more. It's a wonderful reminder of how important it is to surround ourselves with positive people and a team whose strengths complement our own. I'm incredibly lucky to have such supportive freelancers!

Celebrating Love & History: Plas Newydd Photoshoot!
We're thrilled to announce an exciting new project! We're collaborating with a talented team of wedding professionals for a romantic photoshoot at Plas Newydd in Llangollen. This project, "Love is Love: A Historic Photoshoot at Plas Newydd," aims to celebrate diverse connections and honour the enduring love story of Sarah Ponsonby and Lady Eleanor Butler.
We are currently seeking a lesbian couple, preferably from North Wales, to join us as models. For full details on how to apply and what we offer, please see our social media posts. The deadline is June 15th, 2025. We can't wait to hear your stories!

What a busy few months we have ahead! Life is good, and we're so thankful for a bit of rain this week to water the flowers after all that beautiful sunshine (you can have too much of a good thing!). Don't worry, we'll welcome the sun back soon, but a little crop watering was much appreciated.
Garden Tasks for June
Here are your essential tasks for a thriving cut flower garden this June:
Pinch & Support: Continue pinching growth tips for bushier plants and provide stakes/netting for taller blooms.
Water & Feed: Water deeply and consistently, especially during warm spells, and feed hungry plants every 2-4 weeks.
Deadhead: Remove spent flowers regularly to encourage more blooms.
Pest Patrol: Keep an eye out for pests and diseases, and address them promptly.
Succession Sow: Make another small sowing of quick-growing annuals for continuous harvests.
Flower of the Month
Iris - First Iris grown on the flower field, the colours are incredible!

As always, thanks for being part of our journey!
Here’s to a vibrant, creative Spring ahead.
Love,Firth Flock Flowers
