Food & Flowers

It’s been a great autumn so far. I attended Betws y Coed Market, a beautiful town popular with walkers and tourists.

Standing behind a market stall making small talk and trying to sell my wares is a difficult job for me, I would much rather be knee deep in mud on the farm! But on the bright side, I met some really lovely stall holders and gained some insider tips about the best local markets. I received lots of lovely compliments on the dried flowers wreaths, they are a personal favourite to work with, the colours and textures are stunning.

Our workshops at Ruthin Market Hall and The Source were both such fantastic experiences. Everyone did a great job and it is always such a treat to be able to bring a group of strangers together see how well they get on with each other. Attending workshops is a great way to combat social isolation. Many people attend workshops as a way to socialise and meet new people and I always seem to attract lots of nice people who make these sessions so enjoyable.

The workshop at The Source was so successful we are planning another next month, making scented garlands in collaboration with Bathing Beauty.

Another extra special collaboration this month was a cancer research fundraiser with Marina’s Italian Cookery. Food and flowers, what more could you want? We both did a demonstration and got to taste some delicious food! This evening was the highlight of the month for me, such a warm and friendly evening and all for a good cause. I would love to do more events like this.

To top of this busy month I also visited floristry students at Yale college. Very exciting news is that I will be gaining the regular help of a floristry student on work experience. It is a privilege to be able to work with students and guide them on their journey, I hope they love it as much as I do.

Garden Tasks - Sow sweet peas and sprout ranunculus

Favourite Flower - Chrysanthemum, often overlooked but can be stunning, especially some of the heritage varieties
