It was British Flowers Week this month and we were talking about why you should support your local flower grower and sustainable florist.
Locally grown flowers don’t have to travel far to reach you, significantly reducing their carbon footprint. Sustainable farms use fewer pesticides and chemicals, promoting healthier ecosystems (we are completely organic!)
Sustainable practices can encourage biodiversity, supporting local wildlife, including pollinators like bees and butterflies. you are also supporting the local economy. Many local flower farms and florists are small businesses. Your support can be crucial to their survival and growth.
Flowers from local farms are often cut just before they are sold, ensuring maximum freshness and longer vase life compared to those shipped from far away. We pick all our flowers to order to make them all truly unique, long lasting and to minimise waste.

So much going on down at the field this month. We planted up a large section of the plot, the wood chip is down and the sweet peas and growing well. Rose season has begun and there are so many varieties to chose from.

We hosted a hand tied bouquet workshop at Llanelidan Village Hall, it is so important to me to be a part of the local community and I love sharing the skill of flower arranging with others.
At the end of the month, we had a stall at Ruthin Festival selling flower crowns, wands and other arrangements. It was a successful day, with lovely weather and a fantastic atmosphere. This month's personal highlight would have to be moving through the crowd at the end of the day selling the last of the flower crowns and seeing people wearing them as they danced and sang along to the music on stage. I felt overwhelming gratitude for the support from local people.

Garden tasks - Keep on top of the weeds, and don’t panic, as the plants get bigger they will shadow the weeds, it gets easier. Keep picking cut and come again varieties like sweet peas and roses.
